How to Cook Perfect Pasta

As with all the best things in life, it's very simple:-

* Calculate the amount of pasta needed - allow 75-100g (3-4oz) per person.
* Boil plenty of water in a large saucepan, with a pinch of salt. You will need 1-1.5 litres per 225g (8oz) of pasta.
* Add the pasta to the boiling water, bring back to the boil and continue boiling vigorously.
* Cook for the time stated on the pack (the cooking times for the various shapes do vary).
* Just before the cooking time is up, try some of the pasta for firmness - perfectly cooked pasta should be 'al dente', or firm to the bite.
* When ready, drain immediately and serve.
